Hygrade introduces thermally enhanced air spacer

Nizin Steel spacer provides superior warm-edge benefits

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Hygrade Metal Moulding Manufacturing Corporation has introduced a warm-edge spacer fabricated of Nizin Steel — a patented nickel-zinc coated metal that offers superior insulation values, similar to that of stainless steel. In fact, glass temperatures 1/2-inch from the sight line of a window fabricated with Nizin Steel spacer are 4.6 percent warmer than a window made with standard aluminum spacer.

Nizin Steel offers superior adhesion for insulating glass units and superb corrosion resistance. The new spacer is also less expensive, easier to cut and fabricate, and safer to work with than stainless steel — all while providing similar thermal efficiencies.

All Hygrade profiles — such as Standard, A-Profile and Low Profile — can be provided in Nizin Steel.

Hygrade manufactures and markets a complete line of i.g. window components to the fenestration industry, including spacer bars, muntin products, sash stiffeners and screen frames. With two manufacturing facilities and six distribution centers serving customers across the U.S. as well as internationally, Hygrade is one of the world's largest manufacturers of window components.
