Steel Sash Stiffeners

Hygrade, one of the largest manufacturers of rollformed galvanized steel stiffeners for vinyl windows and doors, has the technical know-how and in plant equipment for high speed roll forming of reinforcement shapes. Practically any stiffener shape that can be formed by breaking or extruding can be rollformed from galvanized steel. Finished stiffeners can be formed from slit coils of galvanized steel in thicknesses as light as .022" or as heavy as .125" (11 gauge), and can be produced in virtually any length.

Although Hygrade currently has hundreds of standard shapes, design and tooling of new shapes is usually done in house helping to assure a faster and more economical turn around. Corrosion resistant galvanized stiffeners can provide a substantial dollar savings over extruded aluminum stiffeners with many customers reporting savings of up to 50%. And in the long run, steel stiffener prices are much more stable than aluminum extrusions.

With a maximum coil thickness of .125" (11 gauge), Hygrade's galvanized steel is rust resistant. It produces sash stiffeners of greater strength and affordability than aluminum. While numerous shapes are currently available, particularly for popular vinyl extrusions, Hygrade will customize a profile to meet your needs and provide a number of secondary customizing operations, including: cutting, punching, notching, drilling and more.
